HOW COMPUTER WORKS
- Input: Information and program are feed into the computer through input devices such as the Keyboard.disk, etc.
- Output: Output Device displays show information or output on the screen (monitor) or the printer and send information to the computer.
- Processing: The CPU or central processing unit controls the operation of the input-output devices. The Arithmetic logic unit (ALU) does arithmetic and comparing operation. The RAM also called primary memory temporarily stores information (files and programs) while we are using or working on them. The BIOS or primary enter/output gadget controls the communication among the diverse devices.
Keyword Layout and Data Entry
- ENTER: This command moves the cursor down one line and to the left margin. Enter also processes commands such as choosing an option in a dialog (massage) boxes, submitting, a form, etc.
- DEL or DELETE: It deletes the character at the cursor and/or characters to the right of the cursor and all highlighted or delete text.
- BACKSPACE: It deletes the characters to the left of the cursor and all highlight all text.
- SPACE BAR: Move the cursor one space at a time to the right.
- SHIFT KEY: The sift keys are used to type the capital letter and type the upper characters on kyes with two characters on them.
- CAPSLOCK: It locks the keyboard so that it types capital letters (a right goes on when caps lock is on).
- TAB: Moves the cursor five space to the right. In case of a form or table, tap move and next field.
- ESC or ESCAPE: It cancel a menu or dialog box.
- ARROW KEYS: It moves the cursor around the document without changing the text.
INTRODUCTION: MS-WORD-BASICS
MS-WORD is a word processing programs that allow us to create documents, emails, reprints, letters, and even webpages. We can also add graphics, charts, table to our document in MS-WORD.
Starting MS-WORD.

The layout of MS-WORD Screen
- Menus: Menus are a different list of commands on the top of the screen with a distinct heading name for a particular list. The menus in MS-WORD:
- File: It lists such as New Open Save Print etc.
- Edit: It commands such as Cut, Copy, Paste, etc.
- View: With the help of this menu we can view an MS-WORD screen in the different layout such as Normal, Web, Print layout, etc.
- Insert: This menu has commanded such as Break, Page Number, Date and Time, Auto text Symbol, Picture, Text box, File, Object, etc. We can use this menu to add graphics, picture, symbol, word-art, etc into a document.
- Format: This menu has commanded as such as Font, Paragraph, Bullet, & Numbering, Border, and Shading Columns, Tabs, etc. This menu is used for a carrying out a number of function such as Changing font type, size, color, etc. To make a text bold, italic or underline. Adding bullet and numbering. Adding effect like strikethrough, shadow, small caps, superscript, etc. to the font. Adding space between the characters and lines.
- Tools: This menu contains function such as spelling & grammar, Language, File broken text, macro, etc.
- Table: This menu is used to create tables and inserting them to the document.
- Window: The menu helps to work multiple documents together.
- Help: This menu can be used to seek help and assistance of any topic of MS-WORD.
Basic Functions od MS-WORD.
Creating a new document
Click the open bottom on the menu bar or go to the file open document. Or Press Ctrl and N keys together after opening MS-WORD.
Opening an Existing Document
Click the open menu on the menu bar or Go to the file open command or Press Ctrl and O keys together.
Saving Document
Click the save bottom or Go to file save command or Press Ctrl+S.
Printing Document
To print, the Document performs the following steps.
- Open the document, you desire to print.
- Go to the File Print command. This will open the print dialog box. Here we can choose various option before printing. some of these options are choosing. Printer's name (if there are more then one printer connected). Choosing the operation (portrait or landscape), paper size, Resolution, etc. In properties bottom. Printing the entered document or only the current page. A number of copies to be printed. After choosing the options click OK.
Go to file Exit command on the menu bar or Click Alt and F4 keys together.
Formatting a Text
- To embolden a selected text, click the Bold bottom on the menu bar or press Ctrl+B.
- To italicize a selected text, click the italics bottom on the menu bar pr press Ctrl+I.
- To underline a selected text, click the underline button on the menu bar or press Ctrl+U.
- For aligning, a text, go to the format Paragraphs or click on the left, center, right, justify, buttons.
- For inserting bullets & numberings click the button and numbering button.
For performing editing Tasks
- Copy- Go to the exit- Copy or press Ctrl+C.
- Cut- Go to the exit - Cut or press Ctrl+X.
- Paste- Go to the exit- Paste or Press Ctrl+V.
